Leo’s Profile

I graduated in Hong Kong and gained my extensive experience working in both Singapore and Hong Kong. In 2006, I extended my practice with a Master’s Degree in Manipulative Physiotherapy from Curtin University. I have also acquired a Diploma of Acupuncture and Moxibustion which gives me more treatment options to deal with various complicated injuries.

After moving back to Hong Kong from Perth in 2007, I have had many opportunities to work with various athletes in golf, rugby, tennis and fencing. I have been working with golfers in Omega China Tour golf tournament, tennis players in All China Game and fencers completing in Asia Veteran Fencing Championships. I am a former team physiotherapist for the Rugby section of Valley Football Club and currently helping Hong Kong Veteran Fencing Team. Over the years I have seen so many athletes put in their upmost effort to achieve a better result, although there are joy and tears in between, their determined mindset always blows my mind, especially when they have chronic injuries. This reminds me never to be stationary in life, but to keep moving to improve ourselves.

I love competitive sports like sports climbing, squash and basketball where there is passion and excitement, which is why I understand the importance of returning to sports quickly and regaining top performance. My understanding of various sports fields helps me to know the functional needs and demands of different type of sports.

I am experienced in the management of complex spinal pain like whiplash, cervicogenic headaches and chronic spinal disc injuries. My strength is analysing the biomechanics of different sports to find out the root cause of the chronic injuries, particularly for knee and shoulder dysfunctions, for example, a rotator cuff impingement or runner’s knee condition. My philosophy is to combine evidence-based exercises with highly skilled manual therapy like joint manipulation, acupuncture and fascia release in a holistic rehabilitation programme to restore maximum functionality in a painless and effective way.

I enjoy the journey of helping my patients return to their normal lifestyles, whether they are pro-athletes or “weekend warriors”, it is such a joy when they tell me they are pain free or perform better after my treatments. I love to see people enjoy their sports, strive to perform their best and enjoy their active lifestyles.
